Saudi Arabia to observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Friday as Shawwal moon not sighted
RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on Friday after the Shawwal moon was not sighted on Wednesday evening, officials confirmed.
Authorities said the crescent marking the beginning of Shawwal was not visible, completing 30 days of Ramadan and setting Eid celebrations for Friday across the kingdom.
The government of Turkey also announced that Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated nationwide on Friday, March 20.

Meanwhile, Muslims in Singapore will observe Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday, March 21, according to local authorities.
The United Arab Emirates has urged residents to sight the Shawwal moon on Wednesday evening, with its Moon Sighting Committee expected to issue a final announcement after reviewing observations. Officials indicated that the expected time for confirmation was around 6:32pm.
