The untimely demise of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash near the Azerbaijan border has ignited a storm of speculation and accusations, with many pointing fingers at Israel’s alleged involvement.

Raisi, known for his hardline anti-Israel stance and close ties to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, perished alongside seven others, including Iran’s Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, in the tragic incident.

Former Member of the European Parliament, Nick Griffin, stirred controversy by insinuating on social media that Israel’s national intelligence agency, Mossad, could have played a role in the crash.

Griffin’s post on X hinted at broader tensions beyond the obvious Gaza/Hezbollah/Iran/Israel conflict, adding fuel to the already raging fire of speculation.

Questions surrounding the timing of Israel’s announcement of Raisi’s death before it was officially confirmed and its correlation with other events, such as the shooting of Robert Fico, have further fueled suspicions of foul play.

Social media platforms have been inundated with theories, with some suggesting the crash was an assassination orchestrated by Israel, citing Raisi’s pivotal role in Iran’s proxy wars and his suppression of dissent within Iran.

In response to the accusations, an Israeli official speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity categorically denied any involvement, stating, “It wasn’t us.”

However, recent escalations between Iran and Israel, including the alleged Israeli implication in the assassination of Iranian General Mohammad Reza Zahedi and subsequent retaliatory attacks from Iran, have heightened tensions and added credence to the speculation.

Despite the lack of concrete evidence linking Israel to Sunday’s helicopter crash, the theory continues to gain traction amidst the backdrop of historical animosity and covert operations between the two nations.

Israeli officials have refrained from making official comments on the incident, leaving the international community and Iran to speculate on the true cause of the tragic event.

As Iran mourns the loss of its president and key officials, the Iranian government has yet to announce the commencement of a formal investigation into the crash, leaving unanswered questions lingering as the nation grapples with the aftermath of the devastating loss.
