Trudeau Urges Calm as Three Arrested in Sikh Separatist’s Murder
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau addressed the Sikh community’s concerns on Saturday, acknowledging fears and urging faith in the justice system after three arrests were made in connection with the murder of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Sikh separatist leader.
The arrests came after a diplomatic rift between Canada and India last fall, sparked by Trudeau’s suggestion of Indian government involvement in the killing.
