Speaking at an awareness press conference held at NPC on World Hypertension Day, Dr. Shah warned that high blood pressure is a “silent killer” that can damage vital organs without obvious symptoms.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Colonel (Retd.) Shakeel Ahmed Mirza, Additional Executive Vice President of PNA, and Umair, Senior Sales Manager of Searle Company Limited.

Dr. Gardezi urged patients to strictly follow doctors’ advice and avoid skipping doses. “Regular blood pressure monitoring is essential, even if no symptoms are present,” he said.

He advised lifestyle changes, including reduced salt and fat intake, increased consumption of fruits and vegetables, 30 minutes of daily exercise, smoking cessation, stress management, and improved sleep hygiene.

Prof. Dr. Mirza highlighted that World Hypertension Day, observed on May 17 in Pakistan and globally, aims to educate the public about the dangers of uncontrolled high blood pressure.

“Early detection through routine check-ups is key, regardless of symptoms,” he stressed.

Rashid Saeed, Executive Director of Searle Company Limited, reiterated the company’s mission to build a healthier Pakistan.

“Hypertension is a silent killer, but timely diagnosis, proper treatment, and preventive measures can defeat it,” he said.

The experts collectively urged the public to adopt preventive habits and prioritize regular medical screenings to combat the growing burden of hypertension-related diseases.
