Lahore Sees Surge in Dengue Larvae as Rainy Season Begins
The onset of the rainy season in Lahore has led to a significant increase in dengue mosquito larvae, with surveillance teams detecting larvae at over 1,000 sites across the city in just 24 hours.
To combat the spread of dengue fever, surveillance teams have been actively destroying larvae and issuing notices for breaches of dengue Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
In the past 24 hours alone, 1,074 notices have been issued, and 58 cases have been filed for serious violations.

Since the start of the year, a total of 603 cases have been filed for breaches of dengue SOPs, according to Lahore Deputy Commissioner Raafia Haider.
She praised the efforts of the dengue surveillance teams, who are working tirelessly to address the heightened risk of mosquito breeding during the rainy season.
The local government is urging residents to take dengue prevention seriously and cooperate with surveillance teams to help control the spread of dengue fever in the community.
By following dengue prevention guidelines and working together, the city can reduce the risk of this debilitating disease.
Residents are advised to take precautions to eliminate standing water around their homes, use mosquito repellents, and report any suspected dengue cases to the authorities immediately.
With collective efforts, Lahore can stay safe from the threat of dengue fever.
