Pakistan is celebrating a moment of national pride as Dr. Shahzad Baig, a Pakistani physician, has been named one of TIME magazine’s 100 global healthcare leaders, known as ‘TIME100 HEALTH’.
Dr. Baig, serving as the national coordinator of the Pakistan Polio Eradication Programme, has been recognized for his tireless efforts in leading the country’s battle against polio.

Dr. Baig’s contributions to polio eradication initiatives are impressive. Before assuming his role in Pakistan, he played a significant role in Nigeria’s successful polio eradication programme, which led to the country being declared polio-free in 2020.
