The proposal aims to revert to a traditional Sunday-only holiday schedule for federal government employees.
According to reports, the current Saturday holiday arrangement has yielded unsatisfactory results, failing to achieve intended savings in electricity and other areas.
Instead, it has created difficulties for the public. If approved, all departments will transition to a Sunday-only weekly holiday starting July 1.
The cabinet is expected to review the proposal after Eid-ul-Adha, with a final decision likely to follow soon after.
