Ishrat Fatima to return to PTV as mentor, announces Information Minister
ISLAMABAD: Information Minister Atta Tarar has announced the return of veteran broadcaster Ishrat Fatima to Pakistan Television, where she will serve as a mentor for aspiring newscasters and broadcasters.
The announcement was made during a media interaction at Fatima’s residence in Islamabad, where Tarar appeared alongside the renowned broadcaster. The development follows Fatima’s retirement from Radio Pakistan, marking the conclusion of her 45-year-long association with the state broadcaster.
Tarar thanked Fatima for accepting his request to join PTV in an advisory and mentoring role, saying her vast experience would be invaluable in training new talent in news reading and broadcasting under diverse conditions.
He said Ishrat Fatima was a seasoned broadcaster whose voice was recognised across the country, adding that she brought more than four and a half decades of service and experience to the institution.

The information minister said that after her retirement from Radio Pakistan, he personally requested her to join PTV to help train the next generation and promote the Urdu language. He added that her return would strengthen Pakistan Television as an institution and inspire young professionals, noting that she maintained professional integrity throughout her career without political affiliations.
Tarar also hinted at a special welcome upon her formal return, saying PTV was fully prepared to receive her.
Speaking on the occasion, Ishrat Fatima described news reading as her lifelong passion and thanked the minister for entrusting her with the responsibility of mentoring young broadcasters.
She said she looked forward to sharing her knowledge with the younger generation and contributing to the improvement of the institution, while also urging the government to continue encouraging capable individuals in all fields.
