Oscar 2026 nominations announced as Sinners leads with record 16 nods
The nominations for the Oscar Awards 2026 were announced on Thursday, January 22, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated awards seasons in recent years.
The film Sinners made Oscars history by securing 16 nominations, the highest number ever received by a single movie. The strong showing places it as the clear frontrunner ahead of the ceremony.
Living up to industry predictions, Timothée Chalamet, Jessie Buckley and Jacob Elordi all earned acting nominations following widely praised performances over the past year.
The 98th Academy Awards will be held on Sunday, March 15, at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, with late-night host Conan O’Brien returning to host the ceremony.
