Petition filed against ‘Dhurandhar’ over anti-Pakistan content
KARACHI: A petition has been filed in the Karachi District and Sessions Court against the recently released Bollywood film Dhurandhar, alleging it contains anti-Pakistan content and misrepresents the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Karachi’s Lyari area.
The petition, submitted by PPP worker Muhammad Aamir, claims that the film portrays the party as sympathetic to terrorists, depicts Lyari as a terrorist war zone, and uses images of late former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and PPP flags without permission.
The petition names the director, producer, actors, and other members of the film’s team as accused, while relevant police officers have been made respondents. It has been filed under Sections 22-A and 22-B, seeking that the SHO register an FIR and that the investigation be conducted under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (South).

Aamir stated that on December 10, while at a café in Darakhshan Police Station’s jurisdiction, he viewed the film’s trailer and promotional material online. He claimed that the content constitutes defamation, criminal intimidation, incitement to riots, and promotes enmity among different groups.
Separately, Noreen Aslam, widow of martyred Sindh police officer Chaudhry Aslam, expressed strong reservations about the film’s portrayal of her late husband. She said Dhurandhar misrepresents his services and exaggerates the character of gang leader Rehman Dakait, questioning why Lyari was chosen as the backdrop. Noreen warned that she intends to initiate legal action against the filmmakers, stating that the negative depiction disrespects her husband’s memory and harms Pakistan’s image.
