Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has sparked controversy by wearing the Elite Force's uniform at their passing out parade in Lahore, despite criticism from some quarters.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has once again donned a uniform, this time wearing the Elite Force attire at their passing out parade in Lahore.

The move comes weeks after she was criticized for wearing a khaki Punjab Police uniform and carrying a police baton at a similar event last month.

CM Maryam addressed the criticism, stating that wearing the uniform is a national service and an honor. She added that it is also a great test, and she is proud to be a part of it.

The Punjab Police Department had earlier clarified that CM Maryam is entitled to wear the police uniform as per the Punjab Police Dress Regulations.

At the passing out parade, CM Maryam assured the personnel that the province’s Elite Force will receive all necessary resources.

She also congratulated the successful candidates, including at least 70 women, and paid tribute to police martyrs who sacrificed their lives to protect the country.

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) took to social media to show support for CM Maryam, posting, “In uniform, with honour. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the passing out parade of Elite force today!”

CM Maryam’s move has sparked a mix of reactions on social media, with some praising her confidence and others questioning her authority to wear the uniform.
