Summer Vacation Extended in Punjab, Schools to Reopen on September 1
Summer vacation in Punjab has officially been extended until August 31, 2025, for all public and private schools across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department on August 7, schools will now reopen on Monday, September 1, 2025.
The decision to extend summer vacation in Punjab was approved by the Competent Authority and is part of the continuation of the department’s earlier notification dated May 20, 2025.
The extension applies to all educational institutions under the jurisdiction of the School Education Department, including both public and private schools.

“All CEOs of District Education Authorities (DEAs) are directed to ensure strict compliance with the revised schedule in letter and spirit,” the notification states.
The official announcement follows widespread confusion caused by the circulation of a fake notification online.
The false document had claimed an extension of summer holidays, prompting the department to issue a clarification.
At the time, officials stated that no such decision had been made and advised the public to await information from official sources.
The new notification puts an end to speculation and confirms that students across Punjab will continue their break until the end of August.
Schools are now expected to resume normal academic activities on the first day of September.
While no specific reason for the extension was mentioned in the notification, extended heatwave conditions across the region are believed to be a contributing factor, as per unofficial sources.
