Lahore to Get Modern Tram Service to Boost Public Transport
Punjab government has greenlit a tram service project for Lahore to revamp public transportation and enhance the city’s aesthetic appeal.
The approval came during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif at the Lahore Development Authority (LDA) headquarters.
The 11-kilometer tram route will feature stops every 1 to 1.5 kilometers, passing through key locations like Liberty, Main Market, and Hali Road.

The project, estimated to cost Rs. 27 billion, will also involve remodeling and beautification efforts, including making MM Alam Road one-way.
Modern tram designs from Finland and China are being considered, with a special stop planned inside Gaddafi Stadium.
The chief minister stressed the importance of completing the project quickly, although the official launch date has yet to be announced.
The tram service’s ticket prices will be revealed after the project’s completion.
Additionally, the chief minister approved a plan for a signal-free corridor from Kareem Block to the Motorway, aimed at improving Lahore’s traffic management.
The Lahore tram service is expected to transform city’s public transportation landscape and enhance the beauty.
