Maryam Announces Dedicated Schools for Transgender Children

Maryam Nawaz , Punjab Chief Minister, has unveiled a series of pioneering measures aimed at transforming the education landscape of the province.

In a recent meeting held in Lahore to evaluate school education reforms, she announced plans to establish divisional-level schools dedicated to transgender children, marking a significant step towards inclusivity.

CM Maryam directed the establishment of a Standardized Matriculation Exam Board and Punjab School Inspectorate, signaling a commitment to raising educational standards across Punjab.

The meeting also saw a thorough review of the proposal to centralize all aspects of school education under a unified governing body.

This proposed authority would be tasked with overseeing various critical components of Punjab’s education system.

Encompassing teacher and curriculum development, school enhancement, teacher training, curriculum design, testing and assessment, and ensuring desired learning outcomes.

Highlighting the importance of character development programs, CM Punjab emphasized their integration into government schools.

Furthermore, she stressed the need for special education facilities to be provided in at least one government school per district.

Maryam Nawaz expressed dissatisfaction over delays in textbook delivery to schools.

Educational authorities provided reassurance, stating that 41% of textbooks have already been supplied, with the remainder scheduled for delivery by May.

Additionally, they committed to ensuring timely provision of textbooks for the upcoming academic year by February.
