Measles Outbreak Kills 14 in Punjab, CM Takes Notice

A devastating measles outbreak has swept across multiple districts in Punjab, resulting in the tragic loss of 14 young lives.

The affected areas include Pattoki, Khanewal, and Sharqpur, with the majority of deaths reported from Pattoki and Khanewal (12) and two from Sharqpur.

The situation remains critical, with six more children in a precarious condition in Pattoki’s suburbs.

In Khanewal’s Kabirwala tehsil, six deaths have been reported, and 48 cases are currently undergoing treatment.

Burewala has seen 11 children diagnosed with measles, while in Sharqpur Sharif, two children from the same family have succumbed to the disease, with another fighting for their life.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken notice of the outbreak, reprimanding health officials for their negligence in handling the situation.

In response, a three-member investigation committee has been formed to probe the deaths of six children in a village near Pattoki.

The committee comprises Dr. Umar Amin, Dr. Asif Javed, and Dr. Mohsin Watto.

The authorities are urged to take immediate action to contain the outbreak and ensure adequate medical care for the affected children.

The people of Punjab demand a swift response to this crisis, and the government must act promptly to prevent further loss of precious young lives.
