27th Amendment Deemed Non-Democratic, TTA Vows Legal Protests
ISLAMABAD: Tehreek-e-Tahafuz-e-Aain (TTA) has strongly rejected the proposed 27th Constitutional Amendment, describing it as contrary to the spirit of the Constitution of Pakistan.
The decision was taken during a key meeting of the movement, chaired by Mahmood Khan Achakzai in Islamabad. The session was attended by Senator Allama Raja Nasir Abbas, Senator Hamid Khan, Nural Haq Qadri, and Humayun Mehmood.
In an official statement issued after the meeting, the movement said that its members would not participate in any voting or ballot related to the amendment, asserting that involvement in an unconstitutional process would undermine the supremacy of the Constitution.

The statement further declared that the proposed amendment violates the basic structure of the Constitution, parliamentary balance, and federal principles, and emphasized that Parliament is not authorized to pass any unilateral constitutional change.
Highlighting the lack of broad national consensus, TTA called the amendment non-representative, unconstitutional, undemocratic, and ineffective. The movement vowed to continue protests through constitutional, legal, and democratic means until the issue is resolved.
