CDA reviews progress of key development projects in Islamabad
ISLAMABAD: A meeting to review the progress of ongoing and proposed development projects in the federal capital was held under the chairmanship of Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa, with senior officials and project directors in attendance.
The meeting reviewed progress on a range of infrastructure and urban development initiatives across Islamabad. Officials briefed the chairman on the construction of the Electric Bus Depot and charging stations, informing him that the project comprises two sites and is now 97 per cent complete. Construction work at Site A of the depot has been fully completed.
The meeting was also informed that all 21 routes of the electric bus service are fully operational and receiving an encouraging response from citizens. Daily ridership has been increasing steadily, with 102,000 passengers benefiting from the service on December 31, 2025 alone.
Progress on the project to link Margalla Avenue with the M-1 Motorway was also reviewed, along with detailed discussions on the construction of the Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre and a proposed luxury hotel project in Islamabad.

Chairman Randhawa said the CDA aims to promote the hospitality industry to help develop Islamabad into a modern city in line with international standards. He directed that the designs of all development projects should be state-of-the-art and stressed the need to further strengthen the authority’s architecture and design wing.
Reaffirming the CDA’s priorities, the chairman said providing better travel facilities to residents, developing modern infrastructure, and enhancing the overall beauty and functionality of the capital remain key objectives of the authority.
