CPPA-G Proposes Tax on Solar Panel Users
Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA-G) has suggested imposing a tax on residential and commercial consumers who have installed solar panel.
Tax Proposal Details
According to sources, CPPA-G has proposed a tax of Rs. 2,000 per kilowatt on both residential and commercial solar panel users.
This means that users with 12-kilowatt panels will have to pay a tax of Rs. 24,000.

The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) has received the summary and sent it to the Prime Minister for approval.
Rationalization of Buyback Rates
In addition to the tax proposal, the summary also includes a plan to rationalize the buyback rates of net metering electricity.
If approved, an application will be lodged with the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) to decrease the buyback rates of net metering electricity.
