Federal Minister Denies Talks of Power Tariffs Increase with IMF

Federal Minister for Power, Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, has refuted claims of discussions with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) regarding a potential increase in power tariffs.

In a statement posted on X, Minister Leghari dismissed reports of tariff hikes as “misinformation,” clarifying that talks with the IMF are centered around reforms in the power sector.

During the discussions, Pakistan presented a comprehensive reform program for the power sector, which was recently finalized with the approval of the prime minister.
