KALAT: Security forces have killed four Indian-backed terrorists in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Balochistan’s Kalat district, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Sunday.

According to a statement issued by the military’s media wing, the operation was carried out on December 27 following reports about the presence of terrorists affiliated with the Indian proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan.

During the operation, security forces effectively engaged the terrorists’ hideout. After an intense exchange of fire, four Indian-sponsored terrorists were killed. Weapons, ammunition and explosives were also recovered from the site.

The ISPR said the slain militants were actively involved in multiple terrorist activities in the area. It added that sanitisation operations are underway to eliminate any remaining Indian-sponsored terrorists in the vicinity.

Reaffirming its resolve, the military said the counter-terrorism campaign under the vision of ‘Azm e Istehkam’ will continue at full pace, with security forces and law enforcement agencies determined to eradicate the menace of foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

The operation comes a day after four India-backed terrorists were killed in a similar IBO in Balochistan’s Panjgur district.

Pakistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan in 2021. Islamabad has repeatedly called on Kabul to ensure that Afghan soil is not used by militant groups to carry out attacks inside Pakistan.
