Four policemen martyred in separate firing incidents in Lakki Marwat, Bannu
Lakki Marwat/Bannu: Four policemen were martyred in two separate firing incidents carried out by unidentified assailants in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Sunday, police said.
In Lakki Marwat, motorcycle-riding attackers opened fire on traffic police personnel in Sarai Naurang city, resulting in the martyrdom of three officers. The martyred officials were identified as Traffic Police In-charge Naurang Jalal Khan, Constable Azizullah and Constable Abdullah. The attackers fled the scene after the incident.
The bodies of the martyred officers were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Sarai Naurang, for medico-legal formalities. Police launched a search operation in the area and initiated an investigation.
In a separate incident in Bannu, a police constable was martyred when unidentified individuals opened fire in the Mandan area. Police said Constable Rashid Khan was attacked while travelling from his home to report for duty at Mandan Police Station.
The incidents come amid a surge in terrorist attacks targeting law enforcement agencies, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, since 2021. On December 23, five policemen were martyred when their van was attacked in Karak district, while three police personnel were killed in a similar attack in Dera Ismail Khan last year.

According to a Centre for Research and Security Studies report, at least 2,331 people, including civilians and law enforcement personnel, were killed in terrorist violence in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2025.
The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister condemned the attacks, expressed grief over the loss of lives and offered condolences to the families of the martyred officers, saying such cowardly acts would not succeed.
Governor Faisal Karim Kundi sought reports on both incidents from concerned authorities and expressed sorrow over the martyrdom, stating that the sacrifices of the fallen personnel would not go in vain.
