Government Allocates Rs 4B for Rawalpindi Ring Road Project

Funds to Settle Liabilities, Additional Disbursal Expected in Next Fiscal Year for Project Completion

The Punjab government has allocated Rs 4 billion for the Rawalpindi Ring Road (R3) project to settle its liabilities by the end of the fiscal year 2023-24.

Commissioner Aamir Khattak announced that additional funds will be disbursed in the next fiscal year to ensure the project’s completion by December 2024.

The project, spanning 38.3 kilometers, aims to develop an industrial zone around the Ring Road, featuring six lanes and controlled access.

The cost of the project has increased from Rs 31 billion to Rs 38 billion.

The government has already allocated Rs 7.8 billion for the project’s construction after land acquisition.

The revised project has been approved by the Planning and Development Department, with approvals from the Central Development Working Party and ECNEC expected soon.

Two more projects, the Kutchery Chowk expansion and a signal-free corridor from Ammar Chowk to Pirwadhai Mor, will be launched in the next fiscal year.
