ISPR Denies Claims of COAS Interview with Jouurnalist Suhail Warraich
RAWALPINDI: The military’s media wing on Thursday dismissed reports that Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Field Marshal Asim Munir had given an interview to senior journalist Suhail Warraich, calling the claims “baseless” and “motivated by personal publicity.”
In a media briefing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif said that the reference in Suhail Warraich recent column pertained to a public event in Brussels where hundreds of people had taken photographs. He maintained that no discussion involving Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan or any apology had taken place.
Mr Warraich had earlier shared a picture with the army chief on X (formerly Twitter).

“This is merely an attempt by a journalist to gain personal benefit and publicity,” the DG ISPR remarked, terming the act “inappropriate” and “unbecoming of a senior journalist.” He further cautioned that “anyone engaging in unlawful actions will have to face the law.”
When asked about possible legal action against Geo or Jang, Lt Gen Sharif avoided a direct response but underlined the need for responsible conduct. “Institutions must show wisdom, and the media too should understand that such behaviour is not appropriate,” he said.
Expressing regret, he added it was “unfortunate that even a senior journalist chose to act irresponsibly,” reiterating that the Pakistan Army remained a disciplined and responsible institution.
