ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister Khawaja Asif on Tuesday strongly criticised the PTI founder over his remarks about jail conditions, saying the facilities being provided to him at Adiala Jail were better than those available at many five-star hotels.

In a post on X, Khawaja Asif said the food being served to Imran Khan was not even offered in high-end hotels. He claimed Khan’s meals were being brought from outside and that he had access to television, his preferred channels and exercise equipment inside his cell.

Asif compared his own imprisonment, saying he had been forced to sleep on a cold floor during winter with only two blankets and no hot water in January. He alleged that the jail superintendent at the time, Asad Warraich, had personally ordered a gas heater to be removed.

He further claimed that Imran Khan was provided a double bed and thick bedding inside jail, which he described as special treatment.

In his post, Asif said the PTI founder should be made to listen to his speech through the jail’s public address system and urged him to “fear God and understand that no one owns time forever.”
