KP to auction fancy number plates bearing names of top political figures
PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to auction fancy vehicle number plates bearing the names of prominent political leaders, including PTI founder Imran Khan, President Asif Ali Zardari, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and other well-known figures.
Provincial Minister for Excise and Taxation Syed Fakhar Jehan said that number plates featuring the names of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz would also be offered for auction.
He said that in the first phase, number plates titled ‘Imran Khan-804’ and ‘Imran Khan-1’ would be auctioned on January 27, while plates bearing the names of other political leaders would be included in subsequent phases.
According to an advertisement issued by the Excise and Taxation Department, fancy number plates carrying the names of various castes, including Afridi, Gandapur, Durrani, Kundi, Yousufzai, Mahsood and Khattak, will also be auctioned on January 27 at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar.

Interested citizens can submit their applications through the Dastak app, with the deadline set for January 26, 2026.
The minister said bidding for fancy number plates would start from Rs1 million, and the highest bidder would be awarded the number plate of their chosen political figure.
Fakhar Jehan added that vehicle owners have shown strong interest in the initiative, which is expected to generate substantial revenue for the national exchequer.
