ISLAMABAD – Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday commended Pakistan’s policy of dialogue and reconciliation in resolving disputes, reaffirming the deep-rooted brotherly ties between the two nations.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Erdogan responded to Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s appreciation of Turkey’s role in promoting regional peace, stating, “We highly appreciate the prudent, patient policy of the Pakistani state that prioritizes dialogue and reconciliation in resolving disputes.”

Erdogan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to Pakistan’s stability, saying Ankara places “great importance” on the country’s peace and prosperity.

He described the Pakistan-Turkey relationship as “one of the most beautiful examples of true friendship” and a “rare blessing for only a few nations in the world.”

Extending “heartfelt greetings” to Pakistanis, Erdogan expressed Turkey’s solidarity with Pakistan “in both good times and bad.”

Earlier, PM Shehbaz had thanked Erdogan for his “strong support and unwavering solidarity” with Pakistan, calling the bilateral ties “long-standing, time-tested, and abiding.”

In his post, Shehbaz noted, “I am particularly grateful for His Excellency’s constructive role and concerted efforts in promoting peace in South Asia.”

The exchange follows Erdogan’s remarks at a Turkish cabinet meeting on Tuesday, where he welcomed the recent ceasefire between Pakistan and India and urged both nations to avoid further escalation.

He highlighted Turkey’s efforts in de-escalating tensions after recent incidents, including a “heinous terrorist attack” in Indian-administered Kashmir and missile strikes involving Pakistan.

Erdogan expressed hope that the ceasefire would pave the way for resolving other disputes, particularly water-sharing issues, between the two South Asian neighbors.

The mutual appreciation underscores the strong diplomatic and fraternal bonds between Pakistan and Turkey, with both leaders emphasizing dialogue as the path to regional stability.
