Pakistan Navy Chief Concludes Official Visit to Bangladesh

ISLAMABAD: Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, concluded his official visit to Bangladesh after a series of high-level meetings aimed at enhancing bilateral defence and maritime cooperation. The visit coincided with the port call of Pakistan Navy Ship PNS SAIF at Chattogram.

During the visit, Admiral Ashraf held meetings with Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, and Principal Staff Officer Armed Forces Division Lieutenant General S M Kamrul Hassan. Discussions focused on regional maritime security, professional collaboration, and avenues to deepen defence ties between the two countries.

The Naval Chief also visited the National Defence College (NDC) in Dhaka, where he met the President NDC and faculty members, and was briefed on the institution’s mandate and key academic programmes.

While in Chattogram, Admiral Ashraf was called on by Commander Chattogram (COMCHIT), Commander Bangladesh Navy Fleet (COMBAN), and Area Superintendent Dockyard (ASD). He also visited the Bangladesh Naval Academy, where he lauded its professional standards and highlighted the importance of academic excellence, advanced naval training, and collaboration in the evolving maritime domain.

A reception was hosted onboard PNS SAIF at Chattogram, attended by Bangladesh’s Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Pakistan’s High Commissioner Imran Haider, diplomats, senior military officials, scholars, and business leaders. The event reaffirmed the shared commitment to promoting peace and maritime cooperation in the Bay of Bengal and the wider Indian Ocean Region.

The visit marked a significant milestone in reinforcing bilateral naval collaboration, mutual respect, and regional maritime stability between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
