Pakistan sends additional relief supplies to Sri Lanka as storm devastation worsens
Pakistan has continued its relief efforts for storm-hit Sri Lanka, where the Datua cyclone has caused large-scale destruction and prompted an international appeal for assistance by the Sri Lankan government.
On the special instructions of the Prime Minister, an additional 7.5 tonnes of relief goods were dispatched today from Lahore to Colombo via a scheduled commercial flight. The latest consignment includes tents, tarpaulins and powdered milk for the affected population.
Officials said Pakistan will keep utilising available space on commercial flights to send further relief items, ensuring uninterrupted humanitarian assistance to Sri Lanka.
Since the onset of the storm’s devastation, Pakistan has been actively engaged in providing essential supplies and support. A Pakistan Army rescue team remains deployed in the affected regions, carrying out search and rescue operations, while the Pakistan Navy has also mobilised ships and helicopters to assist in relief missions.
