Passport Office Launches New System for Online Biometric Verification
ISLAMABAD: The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports has introduced a new biometric verification system to address the technical difficulties faced by applicants using the online passport service, particularly during fingerprint verification.
According to the department, the upgraded system has been launched through the efforts of the DG Immigration and Passports, with close cooperation from Nadra. Applicants can now verify their fingerprints easily through Nadra’s Pak-ID mobile application, which is already used for digital identity services.
Officials said that in cases where Biometric Verification is not successful, a facial verification option will also be available, providing an additional layer of convenience for users. The DG Passports noted that overseas Pakistanis had repeatedly complained about difficulties in verifying fingerprints online, prompting the need for a more reliable mechanism.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi stated that the integration with the Pak-ID app will allow applicants to complete both fingerprint and facial verification with ease. He added that the new system will particularly benefit overseas Pakistanis and senior citizens who often face challenges in accessing biometric facilities.
The DG Passports said that the department is committed to providing modern, user-friendly solutions to ensure maximum convenience for citizens.
