PM orders urgent relief for KP flood victims
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday convened an emergency meeting to review the flood situation triggered by recent torrential rains and cloudbursts in the upper parts of the country, directing the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to expedite rescue and relief efforts in coordination with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s provincial authorities.
Briefed by NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik on the extent of damages and ongoing operations, the premier instructed that tents, medicines, food items and other relief supplies be dispatched to the province without delay, with trucks carrying aid given priority. He also ordered the immediate evacuation of residents and tourists stranded in flood-hit areas to safer locations.
