PTA warns against use of SIMs registered in others’ names
ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has urged mobile phone users to ensure that their SIMs are registered only in their own names, warning that using SIMs registered under another person’s identity is a violation of the law.
In a statement, the PTA said that the use of SIMs registered in someone else’s name is against applicable regulations and stressed that any misuse of a SIM will be the sole responsibility of the registered user.
The regulator advised consumers to ensure responsible use of their cards and telecommunications connections, noting that users will be held individually accountable for all calls, messages and data usage made through their SIMs or devices.
