QAU land survey, encroachment removal discussed in CDA–university meeting

CDA assures full support as both sides agree to strengthen coordination and industry-academia linkages

ISLAMABAD: Vice Chancellor Quaid-e-Azam University (QAU) Niaz Ahmed Akhtar called on Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa at the CDA Headquarters, where detailed discussions were held on land-related issues and administrative matters concerning the university.

The meeting was attended by CDA Member Administration Talat Mehmood, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, Member Planning and Design Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza, senior QAU alumnus Muhammad Murtaza Noor and other senior officers.

During the meeting, it was agreed to conduct a comprehensive survey of Quaid-e-Azam University’s land to identify encroachments. The participants decided that, following the survey, legal action would be taken in accordance with statutory requirements to remove any illegal occupation.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said the authority would play its full role in eliminating all kinds of encroachments on QAU land, adding that CDA is already actively engaged in an anti-encroachment drive across Islamabad.

He further said mutual coordination could be strengthened by including CDA representation in the university’s syndicate. He added that access to top-tier human resources could also be ensured through an internship programme between Quaid-e-Azam University and CDA, stressing the need to enhance linkages between educational institutions and industry.

Vice Chancellor Niaz Ahmed Akhtar said stronger industry-university linkages could promote applied research, innovation and employment opportunities for students and graduates. Both sides reiterated their commitment to further strengthening mutual cooperation and coordination.
