Russian embassy announces Open Olympiad for Pakistani students

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani high school graduates and university students aspiring to study abroad have been offered an opportunity to pursue higher education in Russia, as the Embassy of Russia in Pakistan announced the opening of registration for the Open Olympiad of the Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) for foreign citizens.

In a post on X, the Russian embassy termed it “good news for Pakistani high school and university students who wish to continue their studies in Russia,” adding that high school graduates and final-year university students are eligible to participate in the competition.

According to the embassy, students securing first place in the Olympiad will be eligible for a fully funded education at RUDN under the Russian government quota. It added that runner-up candidates will receive significant tuition fee discounts and may also qualify for free education under the quota, subject to availability after winners are admitted.

To take part in the Olympiad, applicants are required to register online and upload scanned copies of their passport or national identity card, along with their educational diploma or certificate and academic results from the last year of study.

The embassy said that candidates who successfully pass the online test will be invited for an individual interview as the next stage of the selection process.

Officials said the initiative aims to promote educational cooperation and provide talented Pakistani students with access to quality higher education in Russia.
