Two Killed as Car Runs Over Pedestrians in Karachi

Authorities identified the deceased as Kareem and Shabbir

KARACHI: Two people were killed and four others injured early Sunday when a speeding car ran over pedestrians sleeping on a footpath near the Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine in Karachi’s Clifton area.

According to police, the driver lost control of the vehicle and also struck a motorbike, killing the motorcyclist on the spot. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and shifted the victims to nearby hospitals.

Police said the driver was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. Both the driver and a passenger, who were injured in the accident, were taken into custody from the hospital.

Authorities identified the deceased as Kareem and Shabbir, while the injured were named as Mudassir, Shakeel, Ahad, and Tahir.

A formal investigation has been launched, with police vowing strict action against reckless driving and drunk driving incidents.
