Punjab Food Authority Cracks Down on Unhygienic Meat in Lahore
The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has seized and discarded 2,480 kilograms of unhygienic meat from sick and malnourished birds in a crackdown on food establishments in Lahore.
During the operation, the PFA inspected 23 food establishments and 63 chicken delivery vehicles carrying 85,000 kilograms of meat.

Nine food business operators were fined Rs. 170,000 for violating the Punjab Pure Food Regulations.
The PFA Director General, Muhammad Asim Javaid, warned food business operators to adhere to the regulations or face strict penalties.
The crackdown comes after the authority seized a vehicle loaded with 800 kilograms of dead chickens last month.
Three suspects were arrested and criminal charges were filed against them.
The PFA spokesperson said the authority acted on a tip-off about a vehicle suspected of carrying unsafe poultry.
The operation is part of the PFA’s intensified enforcement drive under the Food Act, following directives from the Punjab Chief Minister.
