Saudi Arabia Introduces New Regulations for Hajj Visas

Pilgrims Must Comply with New Rules to Avoid Ban on Future Hajj Participation and Deportation

The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in Saudi Arabia has announced new regulations for Hajj visas, effective for the 2024 Hajj season.

The visa will only serve as an entry permit for pilgrims participating in the rituals and will not allow for work, residency, or travel beyond designated cities.

According to the Ministry, the Hajj visa is exclusively for pilgrimage purposes and any violations of the restrictions may result in a ban on future Hajj participation and potential deportation.

Visitors from countries outside the Gulf Cooperation Council must secure a Hajj visa for their pilgrimage, which will only be valid for the pilgrimage period.

To facilitate the process, the Ministry has introduced electronic registration via the visa platform of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Potential pilgrims must complete their registration by the 7th of Dhu Al Hijjah or until the quota is filled. It is recommended to apply early as processing may take up to three working days.
