Severe Heatwave Expected, Temperatures to Soar Above 50°C

Lahore High Court takes notice, directs authorities to take measures to mitigate effects on public parks and conservation of rainwater

A severe heatwave is expected to hit Punjab next week, with temperatures predicted to surpass 50 degrees Celsius.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has reported the Lahore High Court.

The court expressed concern over the alarming forecast and directed the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to take measures to maintain public parks and develop a policy for park restoration.

The court also stressed the importance of rainwater conservation and instructed the Central Business District (CBD) to take additional measures to store rainwater.

The next hearing is scheduled for June 7, when the court is expected to issue an order on extending market hours before Eidul Azha.
