The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) gears up to kickstart the bidding process for the media rights of the prestigious Asia Cup in the coming month.

Seeking counsel from Indian broadcasting giants, ACC contemplates offering lucrative four-year and eight-year deals, with broadcasters showing a preference for longer-term commitments.

The media rights tender will encompass four Asia Cup events, featuring a balanced mix of two One Day International (ODI) and two Twenty20 International (T20I) competitions.

In a bid to circumvent potential controversies, ACC plans to host the events outside India and Pakistan, following challenges faced in the previous tournament.

Possible host venues include Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, United Arab Emirates, Oman, among others, to ensure smooth proceedings.

Anticipating heightened commercial value, ACC eyes a surge from the previous $80 million deal, buoyed by the allure of 2-3 India-Pakistan matches per event.

However, India’s steadfast stance, reiterated by Minister Anurag Thakur, reaffirms their non-participation in the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy in Pakistan, citing concerns over terrorism.

Thakur’s uncompromising stance underscores the delicate balance between sports and geopolitical tensions, emphasizing the need for peace for cricketing engagements to prosper.
