ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to build an international-standard cricket stadium in the federal capital, featuring facilities modeled on Dubai’s world-class sports complexes.

According to sources, the new cricket stadium will be constructed in Sector D-12, away from the city center, to ensure smooth traffic flow during major events. A seven-star hotel will also be built nearby, offering premium accommodation for international teams.

The project includes advanced parking areas, upgraded security arrangements, and modern transport access. CDA aims to introduce features similar to the Dubai Sports Complex, providing Islamabad with a state-of-the-art venue suitable for global cricket events.

Officials said the decision to move the stadium outside the main city was driven by the recurring issue of traffic congestion and road closures during matches. Games often disrupt movement between Islamabad and Rawalpindi, creating difficulties for residents.

With the new location, authorities say no roads will need to be closed during matches, and routine traffic across the twin cities will remain unaffected.
