Fakhar Zaman to Begin Rehab at NCA Next Week
Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman will begin rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) next week after returning to the country, sources confirmed on Friday.
Fakhar sustained a mild strain in his left thigh during the second T20 International against the West Indies in Lauderhill, USA, which also forced him to miss the ODI leg of the tour.
Describing the injury as minor, the left-handed batter said he expected to recover within 10 to 15 days. However, the PCB medical panel has recommended further medical tests before determining the full extent of the injury.
The rehabilitation process, originally scheduled to begin earlier this week, was postponed due to Fakhar’s delayed return from abroad.
This is not the first time injuries have hampered Fakhar’s availability. Notably, he was sidelined during Pakistan’s Champions Trophy clash against India after picking up a knock in an earlier fixture against New Zealand.
Fakhar’s availability for the upcoming Asia Cup remains uncertain, with sources indicating that he is unlikely to participate in the tournament. However, a final decision will be made after reviewing the medical panel’s report.

One certainty, however, is that Fakhar Zaman will not feature in the T20 tri-series in Sharjah, scheduled from August 29 to September 7, involving Afghanistan and the United Arab Emirates.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Rizwan will captain the Pakistan side in the ODI series against the West Indies, with Salman Ali Agha appointed as his deputy.
The squad comprises a blend of experience and emerging talent, with notable inclusions such as Babar Azam, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Hasan Nawaz, and Saim Ayub.
