India beat Netherlands by 17 runs to finish group stage unbeaten
India extended their winning streak at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 with a 17-run victory over the Netherlands in their final group-stage match at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Chasing a challenging target of 194, the Netherlands managed 176/7 in their 20 overs despite a spirited batting effort. Bas de Leede top-scored with 33 off 23 balls, while Zach Lion-Cachet made 26 and Noah Croes remained unbeaten on 25.
Other contributions came from Michael Levitt (24), Colin Ackermann (23) and Max O’Dowd (20), but the chase ultimately fell short.
India’s bowling attack was led by Varun Chakravarthy, who delivered an economical spell of 3/14 in three overs. Shivam Dube claimed two wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah picked up one each.
Earlier, India captain Suryakumar Yadav’s decision to bat first paid off as the hosts posted 193/6. India had an early setback when Abhishek Sharma was dismissed for a duck by Aryan Dutt.

Opener Ishan Kishan then added momentum with an 18-run knock before Tilak Varma anchored the innings with 31 off 27 balls.
Shivam Dube played the defining role with a blistering 66 off 31 deliveries, smashing six sixes and four boundaries. He was well supported by Yadav, who made 34, and Pandya, who added 30.
For the Netherlands, Logan van Beek took three wickets but conceded 56 runs, while Dutt claimed two.
The win marked India’s fourth consecutive victory in the tournament, ensuring they enter the Super Eights stage with strong momentum as defending champions.
