Manchester United Sign Benjamin Sesko in €85 Million Deal from RB Leipzig
Manchester United sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig in a deal reportedly worth up to €85 million (US\$99 million, £74 million), as the Premier League club looks to revamp its attacking line following a poor 2024–25 season.
According to reports from BBC, Sky Sports, and The Athletic, Manchester United will pay an initial €76.5 million for the Slovenian striker, with an additional €8.5 million in performance-related add-ons.

The 22-year-old forward was also on the radar of Newcastle United, who viewed him as a potential replacement for Alexander Isak amid transfer speculation involving Liverpool.
However, Benjamin Sesko opted for Old Trafford, reportedly influenced by the club’s global stature and legacy, despite United’s failure to qualify for European competitions next season.
Standing at 1.95 metres (6ft 4ins), Sesko has drawn comparisons to Erling Haaland for his combination of size, pace, and finishing ability.
He scored 39 goals in 87 appearances for RB Leipzig, including 21 last season. Like Haaland, Sesko began his senior career at Red Bull Salzburg before moving to Germany in 2023.
Sesko’s arrival continues Manchester United’s summer overhaul in attack, following the earlier signings of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Together, the three forwards scored 58 goals last season — a figure that far exceeds United’s total of just 44 goals in the entire 2024–25 Premier League campaign.
United’s 15th-place finish last season marked their worst in over 50 years. Only four teams scored fewer goals.
A club spokesperson said, “We are investing in young, high-potential forwards who can lead us into a more competitive future. Sesko fits that profile perfectly.”
