Pakistan Women Captain Bismah Maroof Announces Retirement

In a statement released today, Bismah Maroof, the former skipper of the Pakistan women’s cricket team, announced her retirement from international cricket.

Maroof expressed her gratitude to her family, the Pakistan Cricket Board, and fans for their unwavering support throughout her 17-year career.

“I have decided to retire from the game I love the most. It has been an incredible journey, filled with challenges, victories, and unforgettable memories,” Maroof said.

Maroof, a left-handed batter and right-arm spinner, represented Pakistan in over 276 international matches, the most by any women cricketer in the country. She scored 6,262 international runs, including 33 half-centuries, and took 80 wickets.

Although she is retiring from international cricket, Maroof announced that she will continue to play league cricket and “make the nation proud.”
