Pakistan Women’s Football Team to Make Historic Debut in Fifa Event
For the first time, Pakistan’s women’s football team will directly participate in an official Fifa event — a milestone hailed as historic for the country’s sporting landscape.
The opportunity comes under the Fifa Football Series, an initiative launched by Fifa President Gianni Infantino to give non-World Cup-qualifying nations a platform for international competition.
Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) President Mohsin Gilani said Pakistan’s inclusion in the Women’s Fifa Series marks a “historic moment” for the sport. While the national team has previously taken part in World Cup qualifying rounds, this will be the first instance of Pakistan directly featuring in a Fifa-organised event.

Expressing gratitude to Fifa, Gilani said the development will inspire young players nationwide. Watching Pakistan’s flag represented at a Fifa event, he noted, is a major achievement and a source of renewed optimism for the “bright and promising future” of women’s football in the country.
Pakistan, currently ranked 154th in the Fifa Women’s World Ranking out of 198 teams, has been placed in the Ivory Coast group for the 2026 Women’s Fifa Series. Fifa is expected to announce match dates and opponents later.
