The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has denied No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to key players Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi for the upcoming Global T20 tournament in Canada.

The decision comes as Pakistan’s cricket schedule is packed from August 2024 to March 2025, featuring nine ICC World Test Championship matches and the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

While NOCs were granted to Asif Ali, Iftikhar Ahmed, Mohammad Amir, and Mohammad Nawaz, the PCB prioritized international duty for its key players.

Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi are expected to play a significant role in Pakistan’s upcoming schedule, including nine Tests, 14 ODIs, and nine T20Is.

The PCB’s workload management policy aims to maintain the players’ mental and physical fitness for the season.

This decision is in line with the board’s previous stance, as seen in the denial of Naseem Shah’s request to participate in The Hundred.

Pakistan’s cricket season begins with a two-Test series against Bangladesh, starting August 21 in Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
