The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) refused to grant him a No Objection Certificate (NOC) due to restrictions in his three-year central contract.
According to the PCB, “All NOCs are subject to national duty,” ensuring players prioritize national team commitments over foreign leagues.
Mir’s contract allows him to participate in only two T20 leagues apart from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which he has already utilized by playing in the Big Bash League (BBL) and ‘The Hundred’ tournament.
Mir was recalled by the PCB from the BBL midway through the season for a T20I series in New Zealand.
His contract extension from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, makes him ineligible for further league participation.
Although Mir was not selected for the ICC T20 World Cup in June, the PCB’s stance is non-negotiable.
Worcestershire Rapids had hoped to rope him in for the full season, but Mir will not be participating in the T20 Blast this season.
