Apple Set to Unveil Watch SE 3 in September

Published: Aug 18, 2025 | 02:23 AM

Apple is preparing to refresh its budget smartwatch lineup this September with the launch of the Apple Watch SE 3, alongside the flagship Watch Series 11 and Watch Ultra 3.

The SE model, last updated in 2022, is tipped to receive slightly larger 1.6-inch and 1.8-inch display sizes — a modest bump that could give the watch a sleeker look closer to the Series 7’s thinner bezels.

While the SE line has traditionally sacrificed premium features such as the always-on display to remain affordable, the biggest change this year may come under the hood. The SE 3 is expected to be powered by Apple’s new S11 chip — the same processor inside the Series 11 and Ultra 3 — offering faster performance, smoother responsiveness, and support for features such as on-device Siri and double-tap gestures.

Health tracking, however, is likely to remain basic. Industry sources suggest the device may add sleep apnea detection and an upgraded heart sensor, but advanced tools like ECG and blood oxygen monitoring will remain exclusive to higher-end models.

Despite earlier rumours of a colourful plastic case, the SE 3 is likely to continue with its aluminium build. Pricing is expected to remain unchanged, starting at $249 for the smaller version and $279 for the larger — though Pakistani consumers may face higher costs due to the lack of official Apple retail presence.

Apple is expected to announce the new watches at its annual iPhone event in early September, with pre-orders opening shortly afterwards and availability slated for September 19.
