Mobile Phones Prices to Increase in Pakistan Due to Higher Duties
The prices of imported mobile phones in Pakistan are expected to rise from July 1, 2024, as the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) plans to increase duties and taxes on commercial imports of mobile phones in the upcoming budget (FY2024-25).

The General Sales Tax (GST) rate on imported mobile phones is also expected to increase from the current rate of up to 25 percent.
The private sector has urged the government to abolish the advance tax on telecom subscribers, as it hampers the affordability of mobile services for the majority of the population.
The OICCI has also recommended revamping the withholding tax regime to make tax claims more transparent and hassle-free.
