Rumors are circulating that the PlayStation 5 Pro (PS5 Pro) has been ready for launch since last year but may have been delayed to align with the release of major titles, including Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6.

According to YouTuber Moore’s Law is Dead, Sony’s mid-generation console refresh was initially uncertain but development continued, and the final hardware was completed and ready for release in 2023.

The strategic delay makes sense, as Sony has no major titles lined up for release this year, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is expected to be a significant console seller.

The latest GTA installment will be exclusive to the latest generation of consoles, with a PC release planned for a year later.

Leaks have revealed that the PS5 Pro will boast improved rendering and ray tracing performance, support for PlayStation Super Spectral Resolution upscaling (up to 8K resolutions), and more stable 40 FPS modes on fidelity settings.

Sony has not officially confirmed the PS5 Pro or its features, but an internal investigation into the leaks suggests they may be accurate.
