Solar Prices Surge by Rs 8/Watt Ahead of Budget 2024-25
The solar prices in Pakistan have increased by Rs 8/Watt, just days before the presentation of the federal budget 2024-25.
The prices of solar panels have spiked as dealers brace themselves for new taxes on the sector in the upcoming budget, which is expected to be unveiled on June 12, 2024.

The prices of solar panels have increased significantly, with a 588W plate now costing Rs 4,000-5,000, and a 180W panel costing Rs 1,440.
Smaller panels, ranging from 180-280W, have seen the highest increase in rates this month.
The price hike is also attributed to fears of amendments to Net Metering Regulations, which may end the system altogether and replace it with a gross metering system, discouraging solar use and forcing consumers to switch back to grid electricity.
